Terms of use
The agreement between you and Pilotrun for using this website and the Pilotrun tool. Please read it, especially the parts on estimates, your product, liability and disputes.
Agreeing to these terms
By using Pilotrun (this website, the tool and its features, together "the service"), you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service. "Pilotrun", "we" and "us" mean Pilotrun, the operator of the service.
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom) to use Pilotrun. If you're under 18, use it only with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you use Pilotrun for a company or other organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes it.
Estimates, not quotes
Pilotrun's numbers are planning estimates: ranges built from typical rates, your inputs and the quotes you record. They aren't quotes, offers or guarantees, and they aren't engineering, manufacturing, financial, legal, tax or compliance advice. Real prices depend on your exact design, supplier, timing and terms. Confirm every number with suppliers, and certification needs with an accredited test lab, before you commit money.
Design checks, cost-down ideas, certification suggestions, cash-flow plans and AI drafts can miss things or be wrong. Review each one before relying on it. You're responsible for the decisions you make with Pilotrun's output.
Your product is your responsibility
Pilotrun doesn't make, design, test, inspect, certify or approve products, and it isn't a party to any deal you make with a supplier. You alone are responsible for your product: its design, materials, safety, testing, labeling, packaging, certification (for example FCC, CE, UL, and the rules for shipping batteries), import and export, and compliance with the law wherever it's made or sold. A certification list in Pilotrun is a starting checklist, not a decision about what applies to your product.
AI features
"Draft from photos" uses an outside AI service (see the privacy policy). Its drafts are generated automatically, aren't checked by a person, and can be incomplete or wrong. Check every line before you rely on it. You're responsible for what you send: only send material you have the right to share, and don't send other people's personal information, confidential information you're bound to protect, or export-controlled technical data. The AI provider's usage policies also apply. We may limit, change or switch off AI features at any time.
Using Pilotrun
Pilotrun is free during early access, with no account needed. We may change, limit, suspend or end any part of the service at any time. If paid plans are introduced, they'll be announced in advance and won't apply to anything you've already done without your agreement.
Acceptable use
When you use Pilotrun, don't:
- break the law, or use the service to infringe anyone's rights;
- attack, overload, probe or scan the service, or get around its rate limits or security (if you find a security problem, please tell us instead);
- call its server functions other than through Pilotrun's own pages, scrape it with automated tools, or use its AI features as a general-purpose service;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, except as the law or an open-source license allows;
- upload malware, or files you don't have the right to share;
- use the service in breach of U.S. or other applicable export-control and sanctions laws.
We may block access, or stop answering requests, from anyone who doesn't follow these rules.
Your work
Your projects, files and notes stay yours. They're stored in your browser, not on Pilotrun's servers, so keep your own backups: export a project file from the export tab. Pilotrun can't recover work that's lost when browser data is cleared.
When you send a drafting request or a feedback report, you let Pilotrun process it to provide the feature, and use feedback reports, which never contain names or files, to improve the estimates, as the privacy policy describes. You confirm you have the right to send it. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Pilotrun's property
The service, including its software, cost model, design, text, guides, name and logo, belongs to Pilotrun or its licensors. While you follow these terms, you may use the service for your own personal or business projects, and you may freely use what you make with it, such as estimates, reports and quote requests. Please don't use the Pilotrun name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Pilotrun includes open-source software used under its own licenses: see the open-source notices.
Suppliers, trademarks and other sites
Links to suppliers, marketplaces and distributors are for convenience. Pilotrun isn't affiliated with them and isn't responsible for their sites, prices, quality or service. Company and product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify them; their use doesn't mean they endorse Pilotrun. If Pilotrun ever earns a referral fee, the link will say so, and it will never change an estimate or a ranking.
No warranties
Pilotrun is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted, secure or error-free operation. We don't promise that any estimate will match a quote or an actual cost. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Pilotrun, its operator and anyone who works on it (the "Pilotrun parties") aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, savings, data or goodwill, or the cost of tooling, inventory, production runs, recalls, certification or substitute services, arising from or related to the service or these terms, even if told such damages were possible. The Pilotrun parties' total liability for all claims about the service or these terms is limited to the greater of what you paid for Pilotrun in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. These limits apply whatever the legal theory, and they're part of what lets Pilotrun be offered free. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.
Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you'll defend and indemnify the Pilotrun parties against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, what you send through it, your products (including their design, manufacture, sale, safety and compliance), or your breach of these terms, the law or someone else's rights.
Disputes
If you have a problem with Pilotrun, email PilotRun01@gmail.com first and describe it. We'll try to resolve it informally within 30 days, and you agree to give us that chance before starting any legal proceeding.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be decided only by the state or federal courts located in that state, and you and Pilotrun agree to their jurisdiction, except that either side may bring an individual case in small-claims court where it qualifies. To the extent the law allows, any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, and only on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective or representative proceeding. If you're a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of your country's mandatory laws and may bring a claim in its courts.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll announce significant changes on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use Pilotrun after a change means you accept it. You can stop using Pilotrun at any time. The sections on estimates, your product, your work, Pilotrun's property, warranties, liability, indemnity and disputes keep applying after you stop.
General
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and Pilotrun about the service. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to whoever takes over the service. Neither side is responsible for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. Nothing in these terms makes you and Pilotrun partners or agents of each other.
